The Dirt - January 2011 Issue

We are very excited about 2011 and a new opportunity to serve you. Fresh, unique California flowers and foliage are different from the standard floral fare. We can’t wait to continue to show you how and why.

Several upgrades and accomplishments in the second half of 2010 give us good field position for the new year:

• An additional 120 acres of production that allows us to harvest 100,000 Sunflowers every day!
• Additional automatic assembly lines for increased production.

• New and improved water chiller.

• Quality Control expertise and personnel that we believe is the best in the business.

• Improved sales support focused specifically on better client services.

“Always be Testing”
is a new and extremely effective program in our QC department. We pull a sample from every lot we ship and keep it here at headquarters under the same conditions the rest of the lot will experience in transit and at the final destination. We’re getting a much better read on shelf life, durability and overall appearance, and we’re making necessary adjustments along the way to ensure you always get the best product possible.

Software and hardware upgrades are ongoing at Dos Gringos to ensure state-of-the-art forecasting and effective, efficient client communication. We’ve had some great feedback about the speed and visual appeal of our revamped web site and we have upgraded this newsletter to speed up our communication to you.

We've updated our Dos Gringos Products Page with several new sections:

• New Instructional Video by World Renowned Floral Designer, Rene van Rems, AIFD
• A section about our Just Adds™ product offerings
• Interactive Online Seasonal Catalog
• Sunflower Varieties Page that showcases all of the wonderful types of sunflowers we offer

COMING SOON!

The leadership team will meet this month to finalize budgets and hammer out our top three priorities for the year. Look for details about that in our February issue. In the meantime, the entire Dos Gringos family wishes you and yours a happy, healthy, flower-filled New Year!

The Dirt - December Holiday Issue

Now that we’ve had our fill of turkey, stuffing and pie galore, it’s time to give – time to remember loved ones far and near and to reach out to friends and acquaintances in a special way. When that reaching out includes fresh flowers and one-of-a-kind arrangements, the reaction is special. You know what I mean. It’s why we’re in this business. People feel the good will and the heartfelt sentiment behind a beautiful bouquet. Warm smiles are guaranteed.

Giving is a huge part of our core values at Dos Gringos. When this December wraps, we will have donated thousands bouquets/stems to over 50 different groups in 2010. As you probably know, some of our favorite recipients are Petals for Patriots, Meals on Wheels, San Diego County Garden Clubs, and a variety of cancer-awareness fundraisers. We receive several memorial requests throughout each year, and we are happy to oblige.

I have always admired and I try to patronize and recommend companies that understand it’s not just about money and profit. You’ve got to return something as well. So Dos Gringos is committed to being a good, responsible corporate citizen that gives back to its community. But we don’t just give flowers. I encourage all of our team members to give generously of their time and talent in their respective neighborhoods and to their favorite causes.

As for me, I favor the young and the old in San Diego County. I am an active member of the board of directors for both the YMCA of San Diego County and the Meals on Wheels of Greater San Diego. I’m a big fan of the Y’s philosophy that it’s better to build a kid than mend an adult, and I support all of Meals on Wheels’ efforts to eradicate senior hunger in this area. In 2011, a Dos Gringos team will adopt a Meals on Wheels route, and we’ll all have a hand in making sure those seniors get good food, great flowers, and some warm, wonderful human interaction, which is, of course, the best gift of all!

From all of us at Dos Gringos:
May your December days be merry and bright and filled with the spirit of giving!
